I am putting together an art exhibition and book or collection of responses, items and pictures from various people that have something to contribute to the history of lipstick. The final work will be about power, degradation, our personal and shared histories, as well as a collaboration of stories relevant to women’s history in the United States. The piece will bring together diverse points of view on what lipstick means to society and how we think of lipstick today compared to its history.
Please evaluate the page that will be used for the art exhibition containing the brief history of lipstick timeline. Fold the paper in half, blot the back side or blank sided crease with your own lipstick, balm, gloss, anything or nothing at all, depending on what you use. Write a response, a note, a story, one word, a drawing or anything you want on the same side as the blot, and mail back to me. Send me your used lipsticks, balms, glosses, color of choice, a picture, a small item you feel is relevant, or anything you think fits within this broad context. A large installation will be made from these items. Thousands of women from all over are participating in this journey. Share this blog with as many people as you can. Encourage your friends, family and peers to take a part in the movement.
Don’t forget to put your name on the response, and any other information you would like to share in the art exhibition.
